  33. Scanning Free Call Numbers by Road Kill
  34.  
  35.      Everyone should know what a free call number is.  Many businesses are now
  36. getting them as a way of gaining new customers because it costs the customers no
  37. money.  If you didn't know, now you do.  If you don't beleive me go have a look
  38. in the newspaper.  You can tell a free call number because it has a 008 or a
  39. 1800 prefix at the start.

  41.      There are several different free call exchanges which are quite
  42. interesting.  In Australia there is the 1800 and 008 exchanges, theres also a
  43. new one starting up still on the 1800 prefix but with a brand new system, and
  44. lots more K-Rad features to rip off, unfortunately it only commences operation
  45. in at the start of 1996, and only on trial for two businesses.  But apart from
  46. these two exchanges, there is also the international free call 0014 system.
  47. This operates from all over the world, and is the best system for scanning.

  49.      So what is scanning?  Well basically what you do is pick an exchange and
  50. dial all its numbers.  For example, say you were scanning the 0014 exchange.
  51. In actual fact its 0014-800-XXX-XXX.  Then you pick 4 numbers to use.
  52. so you have 0014-800-125-0XX, then with the last two digits you vary by one each
  53. time from 00 to 99.  And you make a record of each one into a text file so you
  54. can remember what you found.  The best way to do this is to program you phone
  55. all the digits except the last two, and then just add them when dialing.

  57.      A little more advice on scanning the 0014 numbers.
  58. Generall 0014-800-12X-XXX is the best numbers to scan because there the most
  59. interesting and tend to have the most businesses using them.  Also you should
  60. record every number you try and type it into a text file so you can remember
  61. what you find.  A simple program can be written for this, which tells you the
  62. number to dial, then gives you options on the most common things found in the
  63. exchanges, and it writes you answers into a file for you.

  65.      But why should i scan freecalls?  Simple there is a lot fo interesting
  66. features for you to use/find.  Some of the major common features that can be
  67. found are VMB's, PBX's, Company systems, and the ones which are hard to get into
  68. requiring a password just to get in.  If you don't know a VMB is a voice mail
  69. box, this is a system where if you have a box people can leave you vioce
  70. messages, the ones on these systems are for company staff but if you get one
  71. which isn't too hard there much better than the optus ones which are oh so easy
  72. to get as well.  A PBX is a private branch exchange, a company gets these and
  73. sets them up so employees and customers can call and divert around to different
  74. divisions on one free call.  A PBX set up poorly will allow you to dial out and
  75. make calls to non-free numbers for free...;)  Teleconferancing services can also
  76. be found, so you can setup a conferance with as many friends as you want for
  77. free.  There are many other features but i'll leave them up to you to find.  But
  78. heres one more which im sure you'll all love.  The free call sex lines, these
  79. are the ones you pay by credit card and everyone should know that getting credit
  80. card numbers costs you nothing.

  82.      So thats it, its so easy, its quite fun, and theres many features to take
  83. advantage of.  Thats about it from me, but before i leave i'll give you a sample
  84. of some of the interesting things to be found from scanning.

  94. You don't always find a good number, but its always worth it to keep going to
  95. find another good number to dial and take advantage of.
